Major studies have shown that if you make users wait too
long to see your content they will leave your website before it ever completely
appears. It is likely that you are losing a great deal of Internet traffic--and
business--because of this problem.
The culprit is images which have not been optimized for the web. They contain redundant or unnecessary data which can be removed with no loss in image quality. As a rule of thumb, I can usually cut the loading time of a page in half--sometimes even more--by selectively compressing the gif and jpg image files it uses.
